Performing a Literature Search
The Literature Search on the PhenoGen website allows you to perform
a Literature Search for a gene list as well as the co-references for each
gene in the list.
- Choose Genes List Analysis Tools in the main menu.
- Click Analyze a gene list. A page displays the gene lists to
which you have access.
- Click
the gene list for which you want to perform a literature search
- Click the
Literature tab. The Literature
page displays.
You can:
- Click the Delete
icon
to delete a literature search.
- Click a literature search
to view the results of the selected literature search. See "Viewing Literature Search Results".
- Click Run
a New Literature Search to begin a new search.
Creating a Literature Search
- Click Run
a New Literature Search on the Literature tab to begin a new search.
- Select a value from the
drop-down list in the Categories field.
The category field provides you with a way to categorize your keywords.
Note: The Category name is NOT used in the search,
but is a required field. ONLY values in the keyword fields are used in
the search.
- Enter a keyword
or keywords for the category you selected.
- OPTIONAL:Click Clear Fields to clear all the categories and keywords fields.
- Enter a Literature
Search Name.
- Click Submit
Literature Search. The Literature Search uses iDecoder to determine
the synonyms for all genes in the gene list that is searched. The search
looks at PubMed articles for all synonyms and keywords that were entered
in the search page.
Literature searches take time. When your
results are available for viewing, an email is sent to the address you
provided in the Registration
page.
